Lessons

At Universal Music Co., we offer generous lessons to those wishing to further their musical ability. From oboe to trombone, cello to saxaphone, we teach all band and orchestra instruments! Lessons start at rate of $30/lesson. Typically, lessons are scheduled once a week for 30min each. Simply call us to start your musical journey today!

Our Instrumental Teachers

Jim Lase (Clarinet, Saxaphone)

-Moved to Northglenn in 1962, Graduate of Northglenn High School, Received B.A. in Musical Education from Metropolitan State College, Completed additional Graduate courses through University of Colorado-Denver, Chadron State College, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Taught music classes (band, choir, general music) in Eastern Colorado, Southeast Nebraska, Northwest Nebraska. He has been playing the clarinet since 1960, teaching private lessons since 1970. Was Lead Tenor Saxaphone for the Dance Band "The Band Of Memories" for 2 years (Chadron Nebraska). Members of the band included Richard Case (drummer formerly with Les Brown), Kip Dubbs (piano, arranger), Charles Harrington (trombone, US Air Force Band). Currently playing with the jazz combo "Cheri Jam" based at Universal Music. Is a member of NAfME (National Association for Music Education), CMEA (Colorado Music Education Association), JEN (Jazz Education Network), CMAA (Colorado Music Adjudication Association). Employee full time at Universal Music Company since November, 1999.

Chuck Fisher (Guitar, Bass)

-A guitarist with over 20 years of professional experience, is a musician and an entertainer with many levels of musical talent. Born in Detroit, Michigan, his music has developed in Colorado.  He studied music at the University of Colorado and privately under various professors from many colleges an Universities.  His training also has included voice and piano from many noted professors. Over the years he has played solo and in a wide variety of bands from R&B and Classic Rock, to Blues and Jazz Fusion.  Chuck was a founding member of the local Denver Jazz recording act Minus Zero. He has performed with various Denver acts such as: Hazel Miller, Soul School, Chase N’ the Dream,  Ron Ivory, Vintage, and Diana Wood to name a few, he is currently working with Tunisia.  He has opened for such national acts as: Little Feat, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, The Four Tops, Confunction, and Nestor Torres.  He has performed with National acts the likes of the Drifters and Robin E.  Chuck currently teaches private music lessons and performs both locally and nationally.

 

Cheri Roberts (Woodwinds, Brass)

-Hello, I'm Cheri Roberts. I taught band for 30 years, 25 of them in Adams 12 schools, primarily at the middle school level. I teach beginning to intermediate level on woodwinds and brass, and advanced level clarinet and saxophone students. I am especially skilled at establishing your correct fundamental skills, so that you can build on that foundation. I'm happy to help you reach your musical goals!

 

Mike Obert (Brass)

-Hi, my name is Mike Obert and I have been teaching many years of brass instruction. I love to teach! I am a professional trombone player who is currently involved in various jazz bands. Many of my students have excelled throughout high school and even beyond! I look forward to teaching you the ways of brass instruments! God bless!

 

Eric Imbrosciano (Drums)

-Eric has been teaching drum lessons and performing for over 10 years. He was trained and schooled in New York and has been in Colorado for the past 10 years. His lessons are geared towards teaching students proper technique, rudiments, reading, coordination, learning songs, and overall just having fun and staying motivated. He is trained in all musical styles and teaches from beginner to expert.

 

Debby Funk (Strings)

-Debbie has just as much fun teaching music as she does performing it. One of her main goals is to get her students to think for themselves. She has been playing violin since early childhood and added viola sometime in high school. Then, she went on to get her Bachelors Degree in Music Education and added her Masters Degree in String Pedagogy, specializing in the Suzuki Method.

 

Jane Johnston (Saxaphone)

-Jane Johnston has been playing saxophone for 48 years.  She was part of grade school, junior high and high school band programs and participated in solo and ensemble competitions every year.  She is currently performing with a local praise band and was part of the inaugural season of the Thornton Community Band.  Jane has been teaching saxophone at Universal Music for approximately 20 years.
